Colored Pencil Botanical Illustration

During harvest time, there is a joy that seems to bubble from inside me as the autumn colors show up at farmer’s markets and grocery stores! The sunflowers and gourds, pumpkins and squashes are things that I collect as decorations for my tables and porches. They are set in places where the light can pick up their beauty for all to see!

As I was pausing one day, these three gourds caught my interest, their colors and their stripes. Just taking the time to noticed them spurred me to draw them. So, I did! I drew them with colored pencils just as they were, tumbled on the table. To me, they spoke of the whole autumnal experience: socks and scarves, cinnamon sticks and apples, crunchy leaves and jean jackets! And gourds!!
